How is an NRI taxed on a sale, and how does money come back?

On a resident buyer's purchase from an NRI, TDS is deducted under Section 195 — often reduced with a Section 197 lower-deduction certificate (Form 13) against the actual capital gain rather than the full price. Sale proceeds go to an NRO account and are repatriable up to USD 1 million a year with a chartered accountant's Form 15CA/15CB.
